Haiku’s April 2012
1.
looking at my roof…
==================
leaking roof-
an old pot fills
with rainwater
2.
-old tomcat
purring in the moonlight
on the front step
3.
resting awhile
on Basho’s death poem-
my thoughts
4.
-a long ride home,
the bruises blossoming purple
on your skin
5.
the morning walk
================
sunrise…
song birds sing
in the trees
6.
stories in blood
================
as we write our stories
all the pages of our book written
in the blood of the scribe
7.
trapped in the boundless
whimsy of frayed dreams a tongue
pregnant with ideas
8.
Oshawa dinner jacket
====================
his eyes bared the mark
of hard times, flannel shirts,
and bus transfers
9.
Necropolis (pt.2)
=================
rotting city-
the steady pulsing
of maggots
10.
a long procession
of flowers growing by the walkway
-a moment’s treasure
11.
her voice
=========
the wind was whistling in the
trees as the echos of her voice
haunted the atmosphere
12.
the sounds of her laughter
in the night rises like steam and
gets caught in the moonlight
13.
Opiate
======
poppies grow-
children rot away
in the streets
14.
downtown…
========
city streets,
a hooker darting
between cars
15.
the doldrums of our
reality set in and turn my
thoughts into a grey mist
16.
people that are worth
the effort you put into them
-a very rare bird
17.
the cold air and steady
sounds of pouring rain summoning
echos of the day we met
18.
push harder, your pain
is the result of weakness and
frailty exiting the body
19.
Helmet
======
a peace sign
a soldiers helmet
man’s duality?
20.
to rise up and live
it’s a miracle I’ve avoided
it this long
21.
her eyes shine like
little emeralds in the night
like a dream made flesh
